Our story

Whatbeganin1994withasinglemassflowexcavatorhasgrownintooneoftheindustry’slargestfleetsofcontrolledflowexcavationandjettrenchingtools.

Rotech Subsea Ltd was formed in 2000 after a 70 km pipeline post-trenching scope off the coast of Egypt. Since then the RS range has evolved continuously — from the patented T-shape excavator to hybrid jet trenchers capable of 350 kPa.

Today we serve offshore wind, oil & gas, interconnector and decommissioning clients from Aberdeen, Providence and Taiwan, with more than 600 projects behind us.

Thirty years of firsts

FromtheFlowDredgertotheHybridRS3.

  1. 1994

    The FlowDredger

Rotech begins development of its first Mass Flow Excavation tool — twin counter-rotating impellers delivering up to 8,000 litres per second.

  2. 1998

    The patented T-shape

The T8000 replaces seawater drive with oil hydraulics, improving efficiency, stability and offshore maintainability.

  3. 2000

    Rotech Subsea Ltd formed

Post-trenching of a 70 km, 36-inch pipeline off the coast of Egypt lays the foundation for global growth.

  4. 2005

    1,000 m deepwater

First deepwater excavation completed at 1,000 metres water depth.

  5. 2015

    Controlled Flow Excavation

The RS1 and TRS1 launch for offshore wind — narrower trenches, better depth control and up to 215 kW jet power.

  6. 2016

    TRS2 arrives

8,000 litres per second at 60 kPa for sandwave clearance and freespan correction of cables and pipelines.

  7. 2017

    Grabs & ultra-shallow

The RSG cable grab and the TRS1-LD for water depths as low as 1 metre join the fleet.

  8. 2019

    500th project

Rotech Subsea completes its 500th offshore project and manages a full Ørsted scope including vessel charter.

  9. 2020

    Expansion into Asia

Major cable post-trenching and sandwave clearance campaigns executed in Taiwan.

  10. 2022

    RSBG Boulder Grab

Debut of the RSBG on seabed preparation works at two offshore wind farms in Asia.

  11. 2023

    Hybrid RS3

The Hybrid Tooling RS3 launches — jet pressures up to 350 kPa for deep, narrow trenches in dense seabed.

  12. 2024

    30 years & the USA

Rotech celebrates 30 years in the sector and opens a new office in Providence, Rhode Island.
